Interesting that no 2A team has played a 3A team yet

Here are the only 3A vs 2A games left

10/8 Milford @ Central
10/8 Delmar @ Cape
10/9 Howard @ HVT
10/23 CR @ Archmere
11/6 HVT @ Newark

I'm just curious wouldn't D2 be set up almost like D3, where the top 4 teams have a bye into 2nd round and the first round would be 5vs 12, 6vs 11, 7vs 10, and 8vs 9. Those 4 winners would then move on to play the 4 teams that had byes.

You are correct @Longagoplayer 12 plays down to 6 then to 3.. doesn't work

The bracket set ups are here pages 14 15 and 16

Does anyone know how hard some of the high schools practice during the school year. Looking at this it is possible that some teams could play 14 straight weeks in a row if they make it to the finals. I know back in the day we practice Monday-Thursday full pads no matter what. I know that some teams break it up and do one day just helmets, one day full pads, and a couple days of just helmet and uppers. Are there still some teams that go all out everyday because now a days that does seem like a greater risk to injury

I think they are only allowed so much contact in practice these days. They certainly don't practice as hard as we did .. fo sho

I can't remember what was said but a team that has a 10 game schedule has to play 8 games or 9 games to qualify for playoffs. A team like delmar has already had one game canceled, can they miss another one or would they be out

They have to play 70% of their slotted games. So 10 games is what Delaware teams go with, so they have to play 7.

If some teams decided to only play 9 games to start the season they are already behind a game to qualify.

If 3 games gets cancelled by any means, including Covid and not rescheduled they are now down another 10%.

However, their games played will count to the opposing teams if they won 6 games their opponents would receive the necessary bonus point for 5/6 wins.

if a team reaches the tournament, but is not able to play in their tournament game because of Covid they will have to forfeit, and opposing team advances. Team who does not play is also subject to disciplinary actions

that is how I read and understood the rule book. I may be wrong

So if a team only plays 7 games and wins 4 that is a .580 win % and they give 1 pt.. if the 7 game team wins 5 it's a .720 win % and they give 2 BP's

It’s definitely a lot harder to calculate the points now. At least more time consuming. I just hope DIAA is already keeping track, it would take all night to figure it out come week 10.

WDEL Sean Greene usually does a great job with it, with this new system I’m not sure if he’s going to continue to keep track or not.

if the team is over .500 1pt over .700 2pts over .900.3pts

by the way I don't know how you have Dickinson in the 1A play-offs above. Right now it would be Tatnall

actually it looks like you used overall record and not district..

Use Maxpreps its easier as they have them in order by district record

Thank you I couldn't remember...I don't know why I thought a team had to play 80% of their games. It will be interesting to see what happens with SOS. I think D2 will have the biggest impact. We could probably agree that so far the top 6 teams would be, in no particular order, DMA, Archmere, Howard, Friends Caravel and Woodbridge. 4 of them would get a bye and 2 of them have a first round game. Someone did say it but I do wonder if you play down a division you should be penalized. Caravel has 3 D1 opponents, Archmere has 2 but one D3 opponent. Some teams have one up and one down so that kind of equals out. I guess my long winded way of saying that it would be unfortunate if a team gets a better seed because they didn't play as good as competition throughout the year as another team.

Yeah I used the website4sports one. It didn’t show that Tanall beat Dickinson so that’s why i showed it the way I did. I can fix it.

when I say harder, I mean harder as in the meaning that I still have to get used to who’s in what class, and district. Wore it was easier. I knew who was where lol

Comment on practice. I would not say as hard or harder than you back in the day. Different, like most things today. More done with film, technique, focus on game plan. Hitting still part of the game, but limited to scout O, scout D. Personally, never thought hitting all week did anything accept get players hurt, and made us dumber as we got older (I am sure that is not the only reason), but didn't help. As for the playoff situation, I have always felt that you have to eventually play the best team to win. If its the first round or the finals, you have to do it on the field. As for total games played for the high school athlete... I've never heard a good football player say they were glad the season was over. Reality is, and you guys say it on this board every week - there are at least 2-3 games each year that the better teams are playing with a running clock. I appreciate what the powers that be, have tried to do with the realignment. Still needs a bit more. You will see teams as soon as this year fold before the season ends. As for next year there will be a few schools that will not even have a team. Sad! As for the D2 V D3 - all for it. Question you have to ask? Do the 3's want to play the 2's. I am sure the quality 2's are anxious to play the 3's. I would like to see one game a year mandate. Either rival - regardless of division, or quality of record previous year etc... something that bring up the competition level. I know that its only 7v7 when I say this, but D2/D3 happens every week. the are quality games. Again I know its only 7v7, but it does show that there is a way to level out the competition. Don't have all the answers, but the running clock stuff is not good for anyone!

All very good points...practices do seem more cerebal, for lack of a better term, from when I played. I think as long as realignment does adjustments ever couple years it will end up getting the right formula where teams will be in the proper division. I see the running clock as a good thing because it can help teams start resting players and avoid injuries in a blow out. DMA hasn't had a starter play into the 4th quarter yet this year and in their 3 other games they essentially haven't played past halftime. Now their conditioning will be the thing that will be a question mark when they do get into a tight game and where they will be mentally when they get into a close game.

For if and buts a look at 3A

Dover is too low IMO.. One reason is their SOS is being skewed for Glasgow being shown on their schedule 8/26 Someone must have put a scrimmage in their MP schedule..

Who ever puts info in for Dover on MaxPreps should remove that and their SOS should go up
