How does everyone feel about quarters being held at higher seeds instead of neutral sites? DIAA did try and find neutral sites above and below the canal but size wise only St Marks agreed. Below the canal Dover only said yes IF they were playing at home because Kevin Turner didn’t want to miss his son’s game if it was away. Smyrna isn’t available due to wrestling championships and Odessa which was the 1st option was available EXCEPT the Appoquinimink School District wanted $10,000!!! For two games where every other schools fee was roughly around $1,000 - $1,200 ($600 per game) which is normal.
Neutral sites would have been better. The good thing about this year is that the games are at bigger gyms than the last few years except for Middletown, which refuses to use all of its bleachers. Can you imagine Sanford hosting a quarterfinal in that gym?
Nope! And what’s funny is the district could of gotten up $1200 to use Odessa’s gym but they got greedy with the $10k asking price…and now they are still using a district gym for 1 game and getting nothing extra for it
The games should be played at the available facilities that can seat the most spectators.
