noticed some teams don’t have full schedules this season , still time possibly to fill a slot or two but wondering how that hurts or helps teams ????

per the spring sports manual....

Not sure what happens for teams that had Design Lab on their schedule.

4. Team schedules will ‘lock down’ on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. No games can be added after this date. Team index will be determined by the number of games scheduled for the season at that date. IE: If the schedule has eighteen games, the index is based on eighteen games. If the schedule has seventeen games, the index is based on seventeen game. If a game is cancelled on May 21 due to unplayable conditions that are beyond reasonable control, the tournament committee chairperson has to be contacted (Mike Hart-H-998-7390, C-743-5236, W-654-7736). If the game is approved as dropped the team index is based on one less game

Teams that played teams with less than 16 games cannot count the game in their index. Christiana forfeits count as a win. DAPPS and St. Thomas More games don't count in your index. Delmarva Christian won't have enough games to qualify.. Sussex Academy games won't count either. This is gonna be a shit show for the tournament committee. 24 teams is ridiculous too.

So what about some of the top teams in the state with under 18 (Caravel 16 scheduled as of now ) what’s that do to point index because you’d auto lose 6 for 2 wins and maybe some bonus as well ?

Assuming those games were on the schedule on 3/21, then you divide their points by 18, not 16.

Can't find this in the Spring Tournament manual. I see in basketball where it's stated that a team has play 15 to be counted as a varsity opponent. For baseball, I can't find a minimum to be counted as a varsity opponent.

According to the DIAA baseball tournament, teams have to play 16 varsity games to qualify. If a team can’t play their 16th game due to playing conditions beyond reasonable control, the committee will base the index off 15 games.

That's incorrect they will divide the games by the number of games played . Its happened to Caravel before in the past with the out of state teams playing so many games its hard for them to reschedule . At least that's whats happened in the past .

In other sports that is the rule. The number adjusts based off allowable games. Its seems like every sport has different tournament criteria, "over .500", "just .500".

I believe it has to do with how games where cancelled/postponed then its up to committee to ok if games are to count or not .

A. The 2018 tournament field will consist of twenty-four (24) teams: 1. The Champions of following Conference/Flight/Divisions - Blue Hen Flight A, Blue Hen Flight B, Henlopen North, Henlopen South, Diamond State Conference, the Independent Conference, as selected by that Conference’s criteria. 2. Eighteen (18) at-large teams, selected by the criteria found in Item 1.D (below). B. Eligible Teams: 1. All teams must meet the criteria established by DIAA Regulation 1006.2.4 to be eligible for tournament consideration. 2. A team must have a winning percentage of .500 or higher at the varsity level. 3. A team must play a minimum of sixteen (16) varsity games. 4. A Conference/Flight/Division must consist of five participating schools to receive an automatic berth. If a Conference/Flight/Division has fewer than five participating teams, the teams are still eligible for an at-large berth. 2. The champion must possess a .500 winning percentage record or better. 3. The champion must be in the top 50% of all eligible teams in the state tournament field. D. At-Large teams will be selected according to their team index a

No it is correct. The only game that would be waived is on the last playable day for weather conditions. If you have to play games the last 4 days because you didn't reschedule earlier then its your AD's fault. Its the "Baseball Rule". Years back coaches ducked games at the end of the season to protect their pitching and records. So, you points index is based on the games you had scheduled, period.

If you had a team scheduled and they drop their team, you get a forfeit win. You can go out and get another games, but DIAA must approve it and they will. Whoever scheduled Christiana could add another Christiana opponent. If a team cancels and refuses to reschedule, the other team gets a forfeit.
