HORNETS IMPRESS IN SEASON OPENER

Smyrna, Del. (Sep 9, 2017) --- DSU hosted the cross-country season opener at their annual DSU Hornet Invitational, with the Hornets taking home a second-place finish. DSU had a great showing, placing two runners in the top 10 and four runners in the top 20.

Freshman Corey McGhie paced the Hornets with a sixth-place finish and a time of 16:44.3. Freshman Gregory Moore finished in ninth place with a time of 16:56.6. Sophomore Cameron Burgess recorded a time of 17:18.3 for a 12th place finish. Freshman Jose Infante-Rosales finished in 16th place (17:37.3). Elton Quansah took 19th place (17:56.7) and Komlan Attiogbe rounded out the top 20 (17:59.1).

Also toeing the line for the Hornets were Sophomore Hanqaamo Lintiso, who finished 25th (18:42.1). Sophomore Seth Danjoint finished in 26th place (19:06.6). Sophomore Gerald Amobi ran (19:22.5) for 28th place. Sophomore Robert Castillo finished 30th (19:37.4) and Imontae Parker finished in 38th place (21:02.9).

The Hornets return to action on Sep. 16 at Smyrna, Del. Start time is at 3:00 PM.

Smyrna, Del. (Sep 15, 2017) --- DSU hosted an invitational for the second straight week. They put forth another solid effort using five top 20 times to propel themselves to their second third place finish of the season.



The Hornets were again led by freshman Gregory Moore. The Ganiesville, Va. native recorded his second straight top 20 performance.



Gil Hasan (Soph. Colonial Beach, Va.), Corey McGhie (Rahway, NJ.), Elton Quansah (Fr. Germantown, MD), and Jose Infante-Rosales (Fr. Germantown, MD) were not too far behind Moore, they also finished in the top 20.



The Hornets head to Princess Anne, MD, to race in the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational on Sept. 23. Game time still to be announced.

HORNETS FINISH THIRD AT THE CAPPY ANDERSON INVITE

Princess Anne, Md (Sep. 23, 2017) --- The Hornets place third at the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational. It is DSU’s third consecutive third place finish on the season. Three hornets finished in the top 20.

Gregory Moore (Fr. Ganiesville, Va.) led the Hornets again with his third straight top 20 performance. He finished in 12th place. Hasan Gill (Colonial Beach, Va) was also in the top 20 again, he finished in 14th place. Cameron Burgess (Upper Marlboro, Md.) placed 20th. It is his second top 20 performance of the year.

The Hornets will host the DSU Pre-Conference Run on Saturday, Oct. 7. Start time will be at 11:00 AM.
