The PolyTech loss to Newark yesterday will have an effect on seeds from top to bottom.

If Polytech had won its last two games - Newark and Sussex Tech - they would have finished at 11-4 and given two bonus points to all of their opponents, which include Cape, CR, Friends, MtPleasant, Dover and Sussex Tech. Now they will only give one point.

The PolyTech - Sussex Tech game on Wednesday now looks to be a playoff elimination game - the winner is in, the loser is out.

Cape, CR, Friends and Dover all played Poly and Sussex. If Sussex wins, they finish 8-7, and these teams all get a bonus point from Sussex and one from Poly. If Polytech wins, they all just get the one point from Poly, which will hurt relative to teams like Archmere, Tower, and DMA who did not play either team. MtP lost a potential point from Poly, while St Marks, Sallies, and Appo can gain a point with a Sussex win.

The Poly loss opens the door wider for MtP, Appo or McKean to grab the last open spot. There could be a 3 or 4 way tie among these teams and the Poly-Sussex winner for the final two spots. I think Poly/Sussex winner is one of the survivors out of that tiebreaker, based on strength of schedule.

Great win for Newark - unfortunately, even with a win over St Marks on Thursday, they will still fall short of the playoffs.
