St. Marks isn’t the most athletic but they execute there game plan. Kudos to Coach Sanna & his team. They had absolutely no business doing what they did today. Caravel’s guy Tobin is an absolute joke. No business trying to coach. Sat close to his bench and it was embarrassing to say the least. Got by last year on the talent and had shots fall when they needed them. This team could compete & be back in the championship but won't because they need someone that can actually coach

As much as I hate St. Marks style of play, they execute their gameplay perfectly and do the best they can with the players they have. I don't think any team ever looks forward to playing St. Marks. Big win for them.

I've heard grumblings in the crowd about Tobin's coaching, but in my opinion CA should have been able to handle STM without a coach all together...........ijs

Sounds like St Marks executed their game plan. If you don’t do the basics against them and they control the tempo, they have a chance against most teams.if you rely on beating them using pure raw athleticism, they will beat you with good ole fashion half court basketball.

The one thing you can always count on is ABSURD statements on this board. Anyone with common sense that watched CA’s run last year understands that Tobin was a key factor in their success. His players more than bought into his system. CA overachieved last year and a lot of that has to do with coaching.

CA has a 3 headed monster in Parker, Alderman and Earl. It doesn’t look like all 3 stepped up or even 2 for that matter vs. St. Marks. The rest of the players are role guys that imo play hard. Bottom line CA’s big 3 have to step up consistently. Can’t always blame the coach especially when there is such a gap in the talent level.

St marks is a very difficult team to beat. They make u play 2 minutes of defense on every possession by patiently running their offense, moving that ball. I don't see how losing to St marks makes Tobin a horrible coach, I think they just got worn down and out performed by Slow down basketball.

Holding the ball like that only works in DE...Thats why other states have shot clocks... To force teams like St. Marks that really not talented ... Not to hold the ball 2 minutes in one possession... Holding ball like that is horrible basketball. .. Thats one of the reason why nobody pays DE basketball no attention. ..

It's always going to be that way. St Mark's style of play is boring, antiquated, and while it gives them a chance to make games competitive, it offers them no realistic chance of ever winning a championship in the 21st century. So kids with serious basketball talent and championship aspirations don't go to St Marks.

Not impressed with Caravel at all. So St. Marks beating them is no real surprise. ... I seen all teams from upstate and downstate... Only 2 teams upstate is a real threat to win title.. Sanford and Penn... After seeing Penn Saturday at Tech... Notice same problem C.R is having... They love pressure and press the ball on defense but when teams put the press on them... They cough the ball up .. Like a bad cold.. Lol... This year size will be the difference again this year.. Like Smyrna had in paint last year... Thats why i think Cape vs Sanford will play for state title... Rickards and Robertson vs Davis and Njoku in rematch from early in the season...lol

I have seen St. Marks earlier this season and was not impressed, but I will say a win over caravel is a legit win. People on here bashing St. Marks “style” of slow the game down, looking at the box score of this game it was not really a St. Marks style game. They scored 49 which is high, a few days earlier they only scored 38 against Archmere. This seems to be more of a Caravel issue, not getting up for a game and I bit them. Anyone there able to comment on the game flow?

Yes CA has significantly more talent with their big 3 compared to St. Marks.

@EducatedEye I agree Sanna deserves credit he always gets the most of his players and puts them in a position to be competitive.

St. Marks style of play requires a lot of discipline, patience, etc... however, there is still athleticism involved- passing, defense, and scoring. They simply outplayed Caravel.

I do.. About 25% fatigue and 75% focus and coaching. ..

No coaching should have you focused and locked into playing the game not thinking you going to beat a team just because you better on paper. And after that thats when you have fatigue set in.. When you fighting come back in a game that should be wining easily... Lol
