Milford had an interesting season. They started 3-0 with wins over CR, TH and Cape. Then get blown out by Arch 10-1. They bounce back with a big win over Lake 9-2. Then lose 2 straight to Laurel and Smyrna. They bounce back with wins over another 2 Hen North schools Central and Sussex Tech. Then get blown out by St Georges 12-3. They finish the season going 6-2 with losses to St Marks by a run and to Dover 11-7, but pull off wins over Poly, Wood, Seaford and beat Delmar for the Hen. South championship. Milford was 6-5 against the other playoff teams this year. This will be Milford’s 17th appearance in the playoffs in their history. They have a 6-16 record in post season games. Milford hasn’t had a lot of success in the post season, but did get to the championship game back in 2012, losing a 1-run game to Milford. They have been to the playoffs in every season since 2007, except for 2014. Milford scores nearly 7 runs per game, but allows just over 5 runs per game. Robertson (5-2) & Reichold (4-2) are their main hurlers, as well as Hilligoss. At the plate Mow has hit 3 homers to lead their team.
Sallies has been a little up and down this year as well. They pulled off late heroics to start 2-0, but looked flat in losses against the top two teams this year Appo and Conrad. They got ignited and won 8 of 9 games including beating Caravel, Cape, Tech, St Marks and Central in that stretch. But to finish the season they have gone a little flat again, losing 3 of 5 games. They lost two to St E, a 1-run game to St Marks and barely beat a weak Charter team 5-4 after being down 4-1. In the past, Sallies is one of the most successful team in the state. In the stats 48 years of state tournaments, Sallies has participated in tourney 42 seasons (a record obviously (st marks has been in 35). Yes 42 of 48 season, they were in the tournament. They have played in 94 post season games (58-36), second only to St Marks…with 6 state Championships, 2nd best in the state (St Marks 14). But Sallies has only 1 playoff game since 2011. Sallies is scoring just shy of 6 runs per game this year and have allowed around 4 runs per game.
