I sat with three different coach’s in the past week. All said the same thing, football is screwed for the Fall.

Bum; you know the saddest thing out of all of this. There are a lot of really good players like the QB from Hodson and Yelbert, the big DE from Sallies that will not get a senior season. I'm sure there are many others like them and it's just a dam shame.

Those kids will get a chance to play in college. I feel worse for the kids who may have already played their last football game ever but don't know it yet..

Probably will go like in many states that the athletic association won't make the decision. It will come from the Governor's office and the DOE . Sports will be based on if kids are in school or not. If the kids start virtually than no after school activities.. Pretty much every Maryland county is going virtual until the end of January ( 1st semester) Cecil County may do a hybrid but after school activities won't happen in that case. DIAA will come in once a school schedule is made and when they can go full time in class from there they will look at shortened seasons or just cancel fall and maybe winter,

PIAA announced they will go on as scheduled but it will be up to the school systems if their schools have after school activities.. Typically no in class no after

Oklahoma will start on time. The AL private school league (AISA) will follow the public schools in the state and start on time and play full seasons.

Note: Not all schools/counties will follow the plans laid out by their state association.

It's interesting what the VISAA is doing...They are not going to sanction playoffs or championships. They are leaving the decision to play up to the schools. Delaware independent and private schools should take a look at starting their own association... DISAA? They could have their own playoffs and championships while still playing against DIAA teams as an associate member...then they wouldn't be beholden to the DIAA in times like this.

This has been discussed here a few times. There are a few issues.. First is there are not enough private schools that play football. Second is a rule I know you are very familiar with that states, DIAA teams cannot play in state non DIAA member schools with the exception of the Independent Conference ( Silk Panty League) schools who are associate DIAA members but the kids who don't conform to DIAA rules have to sit vs full DIAA teams. Next is what do you do about Sallies? another is it would affect all the other sports and most the schools we would be talking about football is not their main thing.. I don't think the Catholic schools would go for leaving the DIAA and really the only other school than the SPL schools would maybe be Caravel but again the issue would be if the privates went full INDY the competition and lack of enough schools wouldn't work.. unless the DIAA adopted ( like Maryland's MPSSAA) an approved to play list for in state non member schools...

Privates- Football

Catholics
Sallies- non conference
St Marks- non conference
St E's- non conference * joining Diamond State next year
Archmere- Diamond State

Independent Conference (associate DIAA members)
Friends
Tower Hill
Tatnall
St Andrews

Caravel- non conference
Red Lion Christian- Diamond State Conference

Just not enough to warrant their own athletic association nevermind the philosophical or theological differences in the schools for them to form and agree on something together.. Most of these teams refuse to play some of these other teams as it is.. And the competition level between the teams are very different you would have to form two divisions and Sallies would have to go fully independent and play out of state ..

I agree with BiB. Most of these teams refuse to play one another already. Also agree for most of these schools football is not their meal ticket.
(Based off of recent state championship)
Catholics
Sallies- soccer, lacrosse, cross country, football
St Marks- baseball
St E's - girls basketball
Archmere- Average in most sports.

Independent Conference (associate DIAA members)
Friends - good in men’s lacrosse
Tower Hill - girls lacrosse and field hockey
Tatnall - cross country
St Andrews doesn’t really compete in DIAA championships

Caravel- football
Red Lion Christian- Nothing (years ago football and basketball

private’s need the public’s more than public need private’s.

MPSSAA (MD public schools) postpones all fall AND winter sports scheduled in the first semester (which runs through the end of January) with no plans for a delayed or rescheduled season announced. This means MD public schools can't start practice in any sport until Feb. 1

Interesting question Uncle Bummy. If some of these kids turn 19 by the spring are they still eligible given the fall shutdown?

Sallies is going to have to find a full 6 games.. None of their 7 Flight A or Hen North games will be available..Not sure about the 2 PA games they may be done by then..

So basically they have St Marks and 5 to fill.. Some D2 teams gonna have to step up and bite the bullet. . lol Pretty sure CA would have no problem playing them to help the cause.. Woodbridge I believe would be game as well. Maybe Delmar..Howard might step up as well but you never know bout them year to year..

Might suck for Sals playing D2 squads point wise with only 4 getting in though... They should have played one more week and let 8 in both sides.. JMHO

Would also toss Delcastle and Poly from conference play this year and let them be schedule fillers for the D2 teams JMHO

The cut off date is before the school year and won’t impact. It is for all sports and not just for FB

Under this proposal, there are only 4 teams from each division in the state tournament, so Salesianum really needs Division I opponents.

When we get kids in school there might be a quick uptick in the spread. That might mean schools go total online and that there are no sports this year. That is the worst case scenario, of course.

Need a vaccine by Thanksgiving.

PIAA declares 2 week delay for Fall Sports...8/24 would be their new decision date....but my sense is that they won’t attempt to counter Gov. Wolfe.....

Monday night update:
- Quiet day with only a couple updates: Maryland's MIAA, the Baltimore-area private school league, has called it off for the fall along with the Philly Public League cancelling sports thru Jan. 1
- Ohio's plan for a six-game regular season with all teams making the playoffs has been approved

Another interesting thing that is happening is an unprecedented amount of transfers of kids to states that are playing football this fall.. It's crazy, parents will just up and move for their kids to play football like it's nothing.
