Great day for some baseball....schedule is a little light today but some interesting games.

Archmere (3-1) @ Concord (2-3). After three straight wins Archmere lost a tough game to St Marks 8-3. Orzel and Lynch are pitching well for Arch. Before the ST Marks game they no one had scored more than 2 runs. Arch is scoring nearly 5 runs per game. Concord was 2-1 with close wins over Hodgson and CR, but have lost 2 straight games to Mtown and then a disappointing loss to Charter 10-8. Concord has been hitting the ball. With the exception of the shutout at the hands of Mtown, they are averaging over 6 runs per game. The defense has been a little shaky allowing close to 6 runs per game. Arch had to come from behind in 2015 to beat Concord in a shootout win 11-7. Could be a good game if Orzel is on the mound against Concords bats. I always like good pitching over good hitting.

Dickinson (0-4) @ McKean (1-1). With the weather, Dickinson hasn’t been on the field in about 8 days. Prior to that they have not faired well. They have only scored 3 runs total in four games and have allowed 60 runs. McKean also hadn’t been on the field in 8 days. They started they season with a 10-run win over Howard, then got beat by 10-run by DEPSS. Not sure about McKean, but it seems Dickinson is really struggling.

Newark Charter (2-3) @ Mt Pleasant (1-2). In Newark Charter’s first four games they played well in two losses to Appo & Archmere and had close wins against Charter and Tatnall. But then they came out last week and got smoked by Conrad 11-0. Chopko and Dorr had been pitching well up until then for NC. Mt P had started out easy with a big win over Dickinson, but got smacked around a little by DMA & Appo allowing 22 runs in those two games. These are two POTENTIAL playoff teams but with difficult schedules…it will interesting to see who takes a step forward with this game.

Sanford (0-5) @ Tatnall (3-2). Sanford hasn’t been close in any of their games this year besides the Westtown game. Sadly, even though Sanford has a weak schedule, they don’t have a lot of chances for wins this year. They are allowing almost 13 runs per game and in the last 4 games have only scored 4 total runs. Tatnall has actually played well thus far. After two games with Friends and Newark Charter losing by a single run, they have won three straight games including winning the Tiger Classic with a win over St E in the championship game.

Wm Penn (1-3) @ St E (3-3). After an 0-3 start only scoring 3 total runs, Wm Penn exploded on Newark winning 13-1. St E has played well with the exception of the two games against St Marks getting blown out. But then over the weekend St E got upset by Tatnall losing the Tiger Classic championship game to Tatnall.

Sussex Central (2-3) @ Caesar Rodney (3-3). Central has yet to win an in-state game. They are 0-3 in the conference and need wins if they have any thoughts sneaking into the playoffs. CR after a 1-3 start has won 2 straight games in conference, getting their overall record to par at 3-3, but more importantly 3-1 in the conference has them only 1 game back for the lead. So this is an important, must win game for both teams. Central has won the last 3 straight over CR, including 8-4 last year.

Man do I hope my Sussex central boys can come home with a win. I know the odds aren't the best but they stay alive with a win today against CR. Archmere is in a difficult situation as well. They play two conferences games back to back and then play a top 8 team in Polytech.. Do you try and throw your ace twice or is that a big risk. The other games aren't as interesting I expect St.E's to bounce back after a bad loss. Tatnall should handle business relatively easy today. Newark Charter and MP could be interesting not sure about the forfeit MP gave to WP but Newark Charter probably has the advantage today. And for the Dickinson and Mckean hopefully that game doesn't get to ugly for both sides. Expect Mckean to win that game.
