Sills will be one of first 10 receivers off the board at the NFL draft and I’m happy for the young man. Prime example of perseverance. How could you not root for a kid who reinvented himself and found nothing but success through heart break. Great story imo

Definitely a great story... just not this whack piece.. Story has been told many times by much more credible sites and outlets as this thing.. Heard it all through WVU bowl game...gonna hear it all through the combine and draft as well..

The last time I read the National Enquirer was when I was captured by aliens. They took me on a space craft for 5 days and brainwashed me to become a Salesianum football fan.
I only share this story with good friends so please keep it to yourself.

I can only assume, the aliens needed help with the on board accordion and used that ruse to lure you into the brain washing section of the ship, it’s the only plausible explanation.

You know their MO. I swear one of the aliens was wearing a CR basketball uniform. Could have been a precursor the this past Slam Dunk tourney.

Agree. I have a feeling he is going to kill it at the Combine and climb higher in the draft as a result.

He always did real well at the Rivals and the like combines in HS.. Real well.(the measurable tests obviously he never did a combine as a WR). The only knocks on him is physicality getting off bump coverage and physicality going up and getting the tough ball in tight coverage. As well as doesn't posses the top end speed to take the top off the defense. Other than those things he checks all the boxes.. As I have said before he reminds me of Steve Largent. Great route runner understands the offenses and where to be, consistent hands and knows how to communicate with the QB and establish chemistry JMHO

There is little doubt he has put in the work and is on the cusp of an NFL career. Even with all the praise and pressure placed upon him at such a young age, it seem's to me that he has handled it all well and came out better for it on the other side. I for one was very concerned for him when this train left the station, gladly he's proven my worries and doubts unfounded. I love eating a little crow now and then. Good for him!!!

I bet when Tresolini first broke the story in the New Journal The last Crusade or something like that he never would have dreamed the story would be told and recycled over and over for damn near 10 years .. and its still going and going and going..:p

I have seen mock drafts that have Sills going to Philly pick#113

He will be a good 3rd-4th receiver on an NFL team. He will be better in his position. Big jump from Big 12 defenses to NFL defenses. Good thing there are coaches in the NFL to help him out.

no one is hatin, just was wondering what happened, I keep reading 4-5th round pick, something had to happen for his stock to fall like it did. Was it press coverage concerns?

That and he didn't have a real good showing Senior Bowl week according to Mel Kiper. He did score a TD in the game though.

pretty much all the publications have the same profile

Strengths
  • Tall with good length
  • Has some build-up speed to surprise squatting cornerbacks
  • Continues to improve as route-runner
  • Good feel for working in space and finding soft spots
  • Leverages additional throwing space to boundary for quarterback
  • Clever creating late-catch separation through hand fighting
  • Impressive, natural ball skills
  • Body control for graceful mid-air turns and contortions
  • Elevates and high-points 50-50 balls
  • Can gear down and stack corners while tracking it deep
  • Goal-line specialist winning with slants and fades
  • Scored a touchdown once every 3.7 catches during career
Weaknesses
  • Thin frame with spindly legs
  • Play strength is below average
  • Release gets bogged down vs
  • true press cornerbacks
  • Unable to get free from tight man coverage
  • Lacks top-end speed to separate
  • Would benefit from more physicality at top of his routes
  • Slow to gather and open on comebacks
  • Disappointing amount of drops this year
  • Fastballs ate him up and he had issues with contested catches
  • Just 55 percent of throws his way were completed
  • May not have traits to succeed on first and second level

Remember he’s only been playing and training to play WR for a couple of years, there’s plenty of potential there and he has already faced a lot of adversity FYI trying to play QB at the DI level only to be told he’s not good enough. I respect the way he has reinvented himself, speaks volumes to his character and desire to succeed.

Not looking good for Sills. No catches and one drop so far in the pre-season. Right now in a battle with two others for a practice squad spot.

Lowest moment in Delaware High School Football, the whole debacle. I was glad they finished off in Maryland.
I think I also saw Kiffin in the top worst college football coach list.

FSG anyone playing in 4th preseason game for the most part is cut. He may get picked up after released if not he has a shot for the practice team. Which is not a bad gig. League minimum is 8k per week if a team really wants to keep tabs they can offer more.

Dude Cmon. Really. Your Sills hate is crazy. Your crazy.. They tried to do do thesame thing that was going on in Maryland, New Jersey, PA, California, Texas , Florida , Georgia , South Caroline , Nevada , Arizona ,Hawaii, Alabama ,Washington , Washington DC , etc. Big mistake was doing it in small minded DE.

Would Smallwood go back to 8K a week if he makes the practice squad? When are cuts and are they televised?
