Do you guys have any thoughts about what the seeding and outcome of this years playoffs will be? I know sallies will see the finals but I'm curious to see who else makes the championship. Share your thoughts.

Should be interesting, could be Cape, Archmere, DMA, Appo, or CR making it to the final round. Been a crazy year for sure.

Archmere will go far if there defense holds it together, With Baxter and Revak leading the way for their offense, they have an extremely dangerous offense.

Besides Sals:

Archmere and Tower Hill are the 2 most dangerous IMO. Cape is good too, but not better than these 2.

I guess a lot depends on how it gets seeded out...who will face who etc.

As usual- Sals will be tough to play with

What I don't understand was how after such a strong showing vs. Tower Hill (talking about Archmere), they lost to teams such as DMA and Appo. I think the probably 2 vs. 3 semis will be more interesting to watch than the championship just because the teams will be so evenly matched.

Three of the four quarter final games should be super competitive as well. I think any one of, Cape, Hill, DMA, Appo, Friends or Archmere could be in the final against the Sals. And if CR gets hot they could be there as well. I don't ever remember a Delaware field this deep.

Sals have a difficult final season game with #8 ranked Malvern. Win or lose, it will be a good way to prep for the Tournament.

If the Sals can win their share of face offs they can beat anyone in the country. But the best teams in the country have great face off specialist. In OT loses to Malvern last year and Hill this year, the Sals lost the vast majority of face offs. They will continue to come up short against these top 10 teams until they can even out the possessions after face offs.

Earlier in the season I wondered whether Colby Reeder would come back to Lax in his final H.S. season. When he was a freshman he faced off for a very good Sals team that year but never played again. His brother was so good at the sport that
UNC offered him after his freshman season. Again, he too left the sport.

Has anyone done the calculations to seed the tournament yet? Any surprises making it in this year?

Do you guys think the rankings that Delawareonline and Delawaresportzone are accurate?

Here's a refresher

Delawareonline:
1. Sallies
2. Tower Hill
3. Cape Henlopen
4. DMA
5. Archmere

Delawaresportzone:
1. Sallies
2. Tower Hill
3. DMA
4. Archmere
5. Cape Henlopen

No, Appo should be in top 5, IMO.

Lake Forest is a surprise team this year. 2nd or 3rd year program?

Lake is very good for a relatively young program. I saw them play Dover this year and they really rely on 2 kids to get the job done for them, 5 and 7. If they had a stronger goalkeeper they would have won a few more games.

I ran the numbers and Lake has a shot at making the tournament. Delmar was the 16 seed last year and I believe they had 30 points. It looks like Lake could match that or do a little better. Very impressive for such a young program.

Correct me if I am wrong out there. But I believe the point system works like this:
2 points for a win
1 point for playing a team that ended the season with a winning percentage of .501 or higher
2 points for playing a team that ended the season with a winning percentage of .701 or higher (it could be .751 I don't remember)
Then the points are totaled and divided by the number of games played
Do I have that right?

I saw Lake vs DMA, they have 2 very good players. I was excited to see a downstate team I rarely would see, so I was glad I went.

Their faceoff guy is a legit all-stste caliber player imo, but it's a hard group to crack. in addition to faceoff, he is a strong lefty rip on the wing.

They have another guy that's very good too, #7 and #5 I think they were. Their #16 is a fun player to watch, big strong middie that clears everything for them.

Sallies took a beating today, lost 19-9 to the Malvern Prep Friars. After watching them play a very competitive game against the Hill Academy, I thought this game would be much closer. From the get go, Malvern took control and never looked back. Thoughts?

The Sals did not play well. But even if they played their A game they had little chance of winning as the face off specialist from Malvern was so dominant it was almost unfair. Almost impossible to win a game when the other team has almost every possession after the face off. I have to check but I think we need to go back over ten years to find a game where the Sals gave up that many goals

Lake took Sussex Tech to OT this week and probably should have beaten them.

@laxdeusa. To your question:

Quick review dating back to 2005:

10 goal loss to Henderson 2006. 13-3

8 goal loss to Calvert Hall 2012. 13-5

7 goal to Henderson 2005. 17-10

2 - 6 goal losses in State Champ games CR 2005, Bwine 2006

6 goal loss Malvern 2012. 10-4

Those are the top losses since 2005 For the Sals.

I can't find stats to show the last time they had 19 scored against them.

Saturday was embarrassing.

With some teams have remaining games the current playoff seedlings are :
1. Sallies 2. Tower hill 3. Friends 4. DMA 5. Appo 6. Archmere 7. Lake Forrest 8. Delmar 9. Sussex Tech 10. Cape 11. CR 12. Indian River 13. Red Lion 14. Charter 15. Dover 16. St Andrews

Based on how final games turn out the 15-16 seeds could change by seeing Newark sneak in and knocking either team out

I'm no math genius but that doesn't look right. Cape and CR below Lake Forest, Delmar and Sussex Tech?

Based on the top 10 Laxpower teams and some assumptions about the last week of the season:

1. Sallies Season Completed
2. Friends Still plays Cape and W Charter
3. Tower Hill Still plays Sanford and Sussex Tech
4. DMA Still plays Newark Charter, Caravel and Polytech
4. Archmere Still plays Tatnall
6. Appoquinimink Still plays St. Marks and Middletown
7. Sussex Tech Still plays St. Andrews and Tower Hill
7. CR Still plays Dover
9. Cape Still plays Friends and Delmar
10. Delmar Still plays Polytech and Cape

I don't think the Delmar Cape game counts for any points for seeding. At least it didn't last year when it was Milford and Cape. Its the Henlopen conference championship game, not a regular season game

I assure you my math is correct. I also said this is the standing with several days left. Lake has a higher point index that cr and cape and has one more game left as well. He henlopen conference game does not count towards points or seeding. Just that the winner of the conference is automatically in

Cape will be higher than lake only if they (cape)can beat friends. A cape loss to friends and lake Forrest wins will give lake the higher seed. Those are my standings as of Sunday. If any changes will be made it will mostly occur with the 8th-16

I did the numbers quickly after today's games. There are far fewer moving parts this year than in previous years, although things could still change with upsets. I went through the remaining schedule and assumed the higher team on LaxPower would win - I always think this is a better way to estimate that taking a snapshot "as of tonight" - because those remaining games will be played and records will change.

Here is what I have:

1 - Sallies 2.73
2 - Tower Hill 2.73
3 - Friends 2.73
I believe the tiebreaker between the top 3 will be decided as above by strength of schedule
4 - DMA 2.60
5 - Archmere 2.47
6 - Appo 2.40
7 - CR 2.33
8 - Lake Forest 2.33 (I think CR wins tiebreaker on SOS)
9 - Sussex Tech 2.20
10 - Cape 2.14
11 - Delmar 2.14 (I think Cape wins tiebreaker on SOS)
12 - Indian River 2.13
13 /14 Wilm Charter and St Andrews 2.07 (did not took at tiebreaker)
15 - Red Lion 2.0
16 - Newark 1.93

There are games that could change things (Charter beats Friends for example)

I did this quickly - feel free to check my math -

I have Dover getting in over Newark because they both are tied..the reason they are tied is because even tho Dover lost to CR they earned a point because CR with that win became over 500. Dover wins the tiebreaker with common opponents because Newark lost to caravel and Dover won

SOS isn't used as a tie breaker because points are awarded accordingly. Tie breakers are decided on head to head match ups and then common opponents

I see Newark as 16th with 1.933 points. Dover, Conrad, and Caravel sitting @ a tie for 17th with 1.867 points. please do check the numbers , good luck to all for the remainder of the season and the playoffs

Strength of Schedule is the 3rd tiebreaker, if the teams did not play head to head (1st tiebreaker), or if they have the same record against common opponents (2nd tiebreaker). The rules describe it as Win/loss pct of regular season opponents.

Newark has 29 (22 +6+1) index points divided by 15 = 1.9333 this is 16th place so far
Dover has 28 (16+10+2) index points divided by 15 = 1.867 and they are tied for 17th with Caravel and Conrad. Please do check the numbers , good luck to all for the remainder of the season and the playoffs

Currently that is correct. But If delmar and lake both win their final game then that will force a tie with Newark and Dover
