POY Awards

Great point. Smyrna line was much more impressive and I'm not a Smyrna fan.

I agree and I'm not a Smyrna guy either. Guess you can't leave players from a "Football Factory" like Sallies off 1st team. Come On !!!

Smryna rushed for 430 yrd and 5 tds with 1 first team tackle and no other second or third team OL against a MT D that had a POY and 1st team DT, 2ndteam DT and LB, and 3rd team lb

that is impressive..

It was one last parting shot at YOU done in jest .. not the kids.. The kids didn't say what you did .. the kids didnt post 20 huddle highlights. YOU did..stop blaming the kids for your over zealousness and stop blaming me for it...

There you go again with the it's aimed at me stuff... Your not talking about my talent nor am I any of the kids who got looked over.....if u believe this list is comprised of the best ball players in the state you are dumber than I thought you were. Don't on one hand say it's a popularity contest and on the other put this list as the end all be all... Everyone who knows anything about football especially here in Delaware know the politics of this process and don't get too high or low on this type of recognition. Again there are many kids left off of here... Not just Glasgows kids... Honestly surprised they even got 2. Again congrats to all that made it... And if you didn't don't worry about it as it doesn't mean too much in the grand scheme of you getting to the next level

That is impressive! Makes no sense why Smyrna has only 1 OL on entire list

I'm surprised Carter didn't get lineman of the year. Not trying to be a homer but he smoked everyone who lined up against him this year. Wasn't uncommon to see him drive his guy 15-20 yards downfield. Saw it multiple times in the championship game.

Smyrna rushed for 2636 yds this year at an average of 8 yrds per run 219 per game and 49 total rushing TDS

AS a side note with the 2pt conversions.. they scored 81 TDs and converted 70, 66 being via the rush,, Earthquake or not thats a line putting in work.. Thats 140 pts vs a 100% kicking ratio for 81 pts

Godwin/Wade best QB/WR tandem. Godwin is the best high school player I've ever seen in person
glad you changed that,, but were talking threesome.. Like Turner, Rozier, Fryer or Aikman, Smith, Irving.. I get LB is hybrid but he is one damn hell of a wr as well

That being said I am still going with Wade, Godwin and Baynard..

I think LB may play WR in college, his running style resembles a WR more than RB imo,

Pretty great trait to have being his size and can catch like a WR, and Run like he does

I think his body looks like a WR (tall & long) but he runs hard. I thought he would be a smooth finesse guy but he lowers his shoulder with force and moves people when he needs to. He bad.

I think he will play the same type role in college.. sometimes at RB and sometimes in the slot or motioning out. Especially if he ends up at WV but I could see him taking Shorts role as well. Same type build

302-...you are correct that there are kids who get snubbed every year and those in the know understand the process. But I a curious to hear who else from Glasgow should of been in consideration in your honest opinion. And I will not even question your opinion or take any cheap shots......just like the sports talk radio callers.....I will ask and then just listen.......

Speaking of stats, I did some math myself and using maxpreps stats I have Knight at almost 6k yards from scrimmage (rushing+receiving+passing) and 88 touchdowns in 3 years. So essentially average of 2k yards and 30 TDs a year. And you can tack on probably 50 two point conversions.

Projecting those stats out for his senior year- is he the most productive DE HS player ever?

95 conversions 51 in 15 and 44 in 16

Would be very hard to argue against it. Not sure if anyone has a real good keep of all-time records, but in this new spread-out read-option era, Knight's easily the most devastating of this new crop of athletes. We'll look back on this Smyrna team as arguably the team that brought Delaware High School Football out of the dark ages.

No problem Jawnsky...But as I said there are many other kids from other schools that were also deserving that get overlooked due to the politics etc of the process. Here's some more Hudls for you raven...lol. As a matter of fact Raven... A few of your caravel kids got looked past as well... granger & Montgomery to name a few.

Kids from Glasgow I think should have made one of the three teams:

Jasaan Cunningham (Cb/specialist) 2nd or 3rd team

Kelvin Tejada (Defensive tackle) 2nd or 3rd team

Isaiah Wilson (Qb) 3rd team

Tymere Wilson (Lb) and tyrique woodland (RB/Lb) should of been in discussion as well.

I post video because that's what counts in my opinion and should be how these things are determined, along with character, coaches input etc about the kid and the kids production. Not by who's the most popular or who's team was the best or went the furthest in the playoffs...and not by what coach has the most connections to get his kid the proper votes.... Just my opinion

Fair enough

I will say the C for Smyrna dominated the NG for Mt in the ship.. Dont know the kids names but the C for Smyrna should be on one the list being he dominated the Lineman of the Year and a fist team DT,, but thats my only case for a snub
Ty-Kee Moore. If someone let's me know how to post a photo here, I'll post two action shots from Championship game.

If they are not on a image hosting site or online then I believe you would have to upload them to one such as facebook, snapchat or whatever.. Then once up right click the image and choose copy image address Then start a post and up above to the right of the little smiley is a picture sign, click that and paste the image url that you copied in the box provided.. I dont know of a way to post an image from you pc, laptop or phone directly to here

I know who Ty-Kee is just didn't realize that was him.. Been a few years since I have seen him must have grown quite a bit

In my opinion the best defender in the NFL here getting his butt handed to him on this day.
It happens to everyone time and again.

Dues- must be paid before Conference selection meeting or All-State selections will not be counted.

It is imperative that the head coach submits a complete ballot; the ballot is to represent the feelings of the entire staff.

Players will be selected by the highest number of total points by position. In the event of a tie, the 1st tiebreaker will be number of 1st place votes. If it is still a tie, then it goes to second place votes and then 3rd place votes.

All-State Selection Meeting @ Middletown HS beginning on the first Thursday after Championship Weekend (Board members and media only)

tp.gif
Information will be presented to Delaware Online by 8:00 pm on day of selection.

Basically each Coach is sent an empty ballot with the positions listed and space to write in 1st,2nd and 3rd choice.. I dont know what percentage of coaches actually bother to send one in or not.. I know they arent going to scour through hours of film on every kid in the state nor do they have stats other than what is on Maxpreps if they choose to look there but only 10-12 teams even post stats there and those arent official.. There are no official stats or any stats sent in to the coaches, DIAA or DIFCA

I am sure there is some horse trading write in mine ill write in yours type of stuff, and they write in the names they know from playing the teams or the names they know from media or offers and what not...but no way are they going to scour hours of film and hunt down stats beside half of them probably think the stats on Maxpreps are cooked anyway,, I think most of them just go off the all conference lists to fill out the rest they dont know

Opoy and DPoy is chosen by the Board and Media in the Thursday meeting..

I am sure many coaches find trying to come up with three names for each position a hassle

Not saying its a great system certainly has flaws as every single all state selection system in every state has.. The alternative is let the sports media select it like many states do.. well DE probably only has a handful or two of them..There would be many free steak dinners for those guys lol

Ok I'll bite on this...what are you saying here? It's football, sometimes you are going to get beat. Henderson, Knight, Brown and Carter are all great players and at sometime this year probably didn't look too good. That kid played both ways when I watched and was a really top notch Center. Enjoy the Championship, your team earned that.

Not saying anything. Someone said the Smyrna center had a good game Saturday. These pics came to mind.

I think the point is the Smyrna kid should have got at least 3rd team OL..Not a knock on the MT kid he probably did deserve Lineman of the year..

I don't think the smyrna kid even got all conference
I dont think there is anything seedy about that either,, no one knew who he was.. wasn't a DE a rec star. He was at RLCA/ECA forever but didn't play much until last year I believe and wasn't a name player for them.. He is a late bloomer.. If he keeps working hard he will get his props next year for sure .. He is a good kid who has been putting in the work for a long time to get his chance to shine.. he must be ecstatic to be out of the ECA situation and wind up starting for an undefeated state champion.

RR I'm fairly certain each conference provides a list of their All-Conference teams for coaches to reference while voting. Still a hassle, I'm sure.

Yeah, you can give a thumbs up to one kid without giving a thumbs down to the other.
