The Glasgow Dragons jump on Howard High School of Technology early and coast to 16-1 win.
The Dragons jumped out to an early lead on Howard High School of Technology and captured a 16-1 victory on Tuesday.
The game was decided quickly as the Glasgow Dragons scored early with 15 runs in the first three innings.
A wild pitch, a two-run double by Pedro Custodio, an RBI double by Corey Davis, and a wild pitch during the first inning and an RBI single by Travis Lind, a three-run triple by Mike Helton, and a wild pitch in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Glasgow Dragons.
Mike Helton racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Glasgow Dragons.
Travis Lind got the win for the Glasgow Dragons. He pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered three hits.
Darin Matthews was charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out two.
The Glasgow Dragons piled on five more runs in the bottom of the third. Mike Helton kicked things off with a double, plating Jack McCann. That was followed up by Christian Custodio's single, plating Lind and Mike Helton.
Howard's Jimmy Arriaga was tenacious at the plate, going 2 for 3 on the day. Dante Scrivens led off the 5th inning with a double, eventually scoring on Darin Matthews' single to right field.
Sean Hanhauser pitched into the 6th inning to earn the 7-3 win over Milford. Carter Chasanov had 2 hits, including a double and scored twice. Tre Obermire chipped in with a 2 rbi double to put the Panthers ahead early. Phil Herber had 2 hits and a rbi for Milford.
Four Dover pitchers combined on the 9-5 victory over Smyrna. Dakota Graham collected 4 hits and scored 4 runs for the Senators. Justin Jones had 2 hits for the Eagles.
Bryce Maynard drove in the winning run with a 2 out single in the bottom of the 10th to pace Red Lion to a 4-3 win over Mt. Pleasant. Jaret Bush gave up 2 hits in 5 innings of relief and Seth Wampler closed out the last two innings to get the win. Eric Moore struck out 8 in 6 innings for Mt Pleasant and Trevor Jump was 3 for 4 with an RBI.
Brendan Harris picked up his fourth win of the season as his record improves to 4-0, scattering 6 hits with 3 K's as the Hillers defeated Tatnall 3-1. Pat Fagan had 2 doubles and Ben Crain had three hits foir the Hillers. Tatnall's Oliver Campbell pitched equally as well, giving up 7 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Chris Sipple, Dillion Cole, and Dylan Martin led Lake Forest with 2 hits apiece as they defeated the Blue Jays of Seaford 8-1. Justin Gray had a
double for Seaford.
Danny Berg pitched his second straight complete game, striking out 10 to pick up his third win of the season. Christian Diamanty had two doubles for the Warriors of Wilmington Christian as they defeated St. Thomas More 4-2. Michael Sorowice's RBI double in the 7th gave WCS a much needed insurance run. Sean Pool pitched 6 solid inings for the Ravens and added and RBi triple at the plate.
Justin Hill led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a double, then advanced to 3rd on a throwing error. Hill went on to score the game winning run when Luke Oliphant was walked with bases loaded as Sussex Tech defeated Delmar 4-3 in 10 innings.
The Wildcats were led offensively by Smith and Ward who went 2-4 with 1 RBI, 1 run and 3-5 with 1 run respectively. Ward also pitch great in relief for Delmar, going 5 innings allowing only one run on 2 hits.
Ryan Swingle and Brady Parks also pitched excellent in relief for the Ravens, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits over the last 7 2/3 innings.
The Hawks were paced offensively by Sean McGraths 3 hits, 2 being doubles, and three RBIs. Logan Gilbert contributed 2 hits, one being a home run, and two RBIs. Shane Feehery hit a 3 run home run and Tyler Campbell scored 3 runs for St. Georges as they defeated Middletown by a 14-2 score. Brennan McAllister and Alexander Weber doubled for Middletown.
Sussex Central used five 7th inning hits to blow open a 2-0 game into a 7-0 victory over the Woodbridge Raiders. Dustin Reynolds pitched a complete game two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts for the Golden Knights. Logan Wescott pitched six two-hit innings for Woodbridge, only allowing two runs while suffering the tough loss.
Jayson Wiberg led Cape with a triple, home run, and 6 RBI's as they defeated Laurel 21-0.
4-22-15 Baseball
Trent Hearn 2-2, 2 runs, 1 RBI, Double and 2 stolen bases, Justin Hill 2-3, Cole Collins 2-4, 3RBIs paced Sussex Tech to a 12-2 win over the Indians of Indian River. For the Indians, Zane Richard 1-2, 2RBIs, Ryan Engh 1-2, 1 run scored
Brandon Fraley was 4 for 5 with a triple, 3 RBI's and 3 runs scored. Dexter Marchan was 3 for 3 with a triple and 4 runs scored for Caravel as they defeated the Vikings of Cape Henlopen by a 16-7 score. David Kwan was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Drew Mulcahy, Kai Vitella, and Quinn Donohoe each added 2 hits for Cape.
John Conner picked up his 1st win in relief to in Newark's come from behind victory. Newark tied the game in the 6th and plated 5 runs in the top of the 7th for the 7-2 win over Dickinson. Conner Knight (2RBI's) and Andrew DelPercio each had 2-hits for Newark. Bill Morton had 2-hits for Dickinson.
Colin Lynch improved to 2-0 and Andrew Orzel got the save. Chris Deely and Joey Voge each had 3 hits with Voge driving in 3 runs to pace Archmere to a 9-8 win over the Quakers of Wilmington Friends. Jake Erskine, Andrew Cover and Dalton Ramsey each had multiple hits for the Quakers.
Austin Page pitched a 5 hit complete game shutout with 5k's. Sean Kelby and Mitchell Maxwell had 3 hits and an rbi each. Kevin Buglio and Zach Lesher had 2 hits and Buglio had 2rbi's to pace Newark Charter to a 5-0 win over Sanford.
Sanford starter Jacob Freeman pitched a solid game with 5k's. 2b Vincent Leo was 2-3 with a double.
4-23-15 Baseball
Troy Berta pitched a complete game to earn his 2nd win of the season. Michael Cicconi's 2-out single in the 5th scored Berta and Jeff Wood to give Charter the lead. Wood was 3 for 3 with an RBI and Tommy Steiner was 2 for 4 to lead the Charter offense over AI 3-1. Louis DiChiara had 2 hits and an RBI for the Tigers.
Nick Sensabaugh and JaWan Ward both collected 2 hits and drove in 5 runs each to pace Delcastle to an 18-3 win over Howard. Corey Mitchell, Bailey Mathews, and Moises Reyes all added 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Cougars. Jeremy Smith struck out 10 in 5 innings of work. Darin Matthews had two hits for Howard.
(IR) Joey Anderson 2-3, 2 doubles, 1 RBI, 1 run scored. Zion Howard 1-2, double, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored. Jesse Balasus 1-2, 1 RBI. Billy Murray 1-2, triple, 2 runs scored as the Indians of Indian River defeated Laurel 12-2. (L) Desmond Parker, Mitchell Mayer, Nichlos Perez, and Conner Evans 1-3 each.
Tim Ward knocked in the winning run in the top of the 7th for Delmar as they defeated Lake Forest 3-2. Frederick Frey relieved Nathaniel Smith in the 6th and picked up the win. Kavon Trader had 3 hits while Nathaniel Smith had a 2 run double. For Lake Forest, Tyler Cauthren and Dillon Cole each had 2 hits.
Conner Knight pitched a 3-hitter in leading Newark over Middletown 8-1. Knight improved to 3-0 on the year. Andrew DelPercio was 3-4 with a double, run scored and 2 RBI's. Eric Schwar and Kyle Tomlin doubled for Middletown.
Zach Burton went 3 for 4 and scored 2 runs. Zach has a 9 game hitting streak to pace William Penn to a 6-4 win over McKean. Dizhae Henriquez went 2 for 3 with 1 run and 2 rbi's.
Michael Sorowice pitched a no hitter, striking out ten Royals upping his record to 2-1 on the season as Wilmington Christian defeated St. Thomas More 10-0. Ryan Williams, Danny Berg, Nate Hardcastle and Jeffrey Grantham drove in two runs a piece for the Warriors. Simon Tague and Christian Diamanty had two hits each for WCS.
Winning pitcher John Evans pitched six strong innings striking out nine and allowing only four hits. The Bulldog's offense struck early plating six runners in the first inning chasing starting pitcher Jacob Stollings as they defeated Red Lion Christian 8-0. Paul Groome and Fran Naumann had two hits on the day. Chris Mako, Phil Hudson and Fran Naumann added RBI doubles. Red Lions Seth Wampler had two hits.
DJ Doherty led the Knights offensive attack by going 4-4 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Jacob Swift plated 3 and Dustin Reynolds pitched in with 2 hits to pace Sussex Central to a 8-4 win over Caesar Rodney. Brody Grove pitched 6 strong innings scattering 5 hits and striking out 6. Conner Zaia went 2-2 and Quitin Ivy tripled for Caesar Rodney.
In a classic pitchers duel Cole Davis of Milford pitched 6 strong innings, striking out 7 and only giving up 2 hits to pace St. Georges to a 1-0 win over Milford. Sean McGrath was equally as good, pitching 7 innings, striking out 7 and giving up 3 hits. The Hawks used the fourth inning to manufacture the winning run: Tyler Campbell led off with a single, Kyle Adams sacarfice Campbell to second, Sean McGrath singled, and Shane Feehery's ground ball to the right side scored Campbell.
Emir Garrett struck out 6 to earn the win 3-0 over Glasgow on the mound for Appoquinimink. Ryan Steckline scored 2 runs and Thomas Rybicki had 2 RBI for the Jaguars. Corey Davis had 2 hits for Glasgow.
DMA- Vincent Ruggerio pitched a complete game allowing 4 hits while striking out 4 batters. Jacob Hudson, John Bialecki, and Ruggerio each had two hits. Kyle Moore knocked in the 3rd run in the 4th inning for DMA as they defeated Conrad 3-2. Conrad- Daniel Hyatt went the distance while striking out 12.
