BUFFALO, NY – Coming off Friday night's win over 21st-ranked Old Dominion, the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York wrestling team fell to 23rd-ranked Ohio, 31-7, at Alumni Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Jake Gunning started things off with a 3-1 decision over Jesse Webb at the heavyweight division. Gunning improved to 14-8 in duals on the season.
After Ohio took the next four matches, Colt Cotten (149) scored critical late points in his match with Zach Wilson to earn a 10-2 major decision and cut the Ohio lead to 12-7. It was Cotten's eighth dual win of the year.
However, the Bobcats won the next five matches to earn the 31-7 decision. The loss dropped the Bulls to 8-7 overall and 1-4 in the MAC. Ohio improved to 8-3 overall and 3-3 in the MAC.
UB will next travel to Central Michigan to face the Chippewas on Feb. 7.
